Support the Self-Build Workshop in Monastero
Bivio 980, in collaboration with Camposaz and UNICAM, is promoting a self-build workshop that will take place in July 2025 in Monastero, a small hamlet in the municipality of Cessapalombo (MC), Italy. The project aims to create temporary and reversible wooden installations that enhance the landscape and provide shared spaces for community gathering.
Monastero is a village that has long suffered from depopulation, a condition worsened by the 2016 earthquake.
During the summer months, however, it comes back to life with the arrival of vacationers and travelers walking the Grande Anello dei Sibillini (a 120 km trekking route around the Sibillini Mountains) and the Cammino Francescano della Marca (a pilgrimage trail from Assisi to Ascoli Piceno).
Our intervention seeks to foster social interaction among people, strengthen the local community, and improve the village’s hospitality and livability.
The workshop will involve 15 participants, including architects, designers, students, artisans, and local residents. Guided by experienced tutors, they will design and build 1:1 scale wooden installations. This hands-on process is not only a learning opportunity but also a chance to experiment with new ways of living and reactivating urban and rural spaces.
How will we use the funds?
Your contribution will help us cover:
- Purchase of materials needed for the workshop
- Equipment rental
- Reimbursement for assistant tutors
- Technical, organizational, and insurance costs
- Opening event
At the end of the workshop, we will publish a full report of all donations received and expenses incurred.
