Meeting in Monastero
29 Dec 2024
Sunday, December 29 marked a special day for the hamlet of Monastero in Cessapalombo — a concrete step toward the Self-Build Workshop planned for summer 2025.
Highlights:
- The Mayor, Giuseppina Feliciotti, welcomed everyone warmly.
- Don Oreste shared Monastero’s story, going back to the year 1000.
- Camposaz presented the upcoming self-build workshop.
- Marco, president of Bivio 980, outlined the association’s mission and goals.
- Matteo, president of the Cessapalombo Pro Loco, donated a defibrillator to the community and explained how to use it.
The meeting was lively and engaging — young and old shared dreams and ideas for the future of Monastero. Several local organizations joined as well, including Discover Sibillini and L’Occhio Nascosto dei Sibillini, highlighting a strong spirit of collaboration.
Thanks to the active participation and energy of everyone involved, we gathered valuable insights that will shape the next steps — starting with a fundraising campaign to make the Self-Build Workshop a reality.
Kepa
21 Sep 2024
Bivio 980’s final summer event was nothing short of magical. On September 21, in collaboration with SOMS Corridonia and Marianna D’Amario, we spent a day immersed in nature, music, and connection.
The day began with a scenic walk from Monastero to Bivio 980. After a sunset aperitivo, Kēpa’s hypnotic guitar performance began at 6:30 pm.
Using masterful fingerpicking, Kēpa delivered a minimalist, evocative sound inspired by surf music, skateboarding, and spaghetti westerns. His nostalgic, cinematic performance enveloped the audience in a fully immersive experience — enhanced by the breathtaking surroundings.
Despite a light drizzle at the start, the event remained intimate and enchanting. After the concert, we shared a convivial dinner, followed by a night under the stars for those camping out.
A mountain breakfast closed this unforgettable gathering — the perfect fusion of music, nature, and human connection.
Les Biologistes Marins
17 Aug 2024
In August 2024, the duo Les Biologistes Marins — Beatrice Miniaci and Anton Sconosciuto — spent five days immersed in the Sibillini Mountains, hosted by Bivio 980.
During their stay, they explored and recorded natural sounds — from babbling brooks to rolling thunder — and transformed them into a unique live performance.
The final concert on August 17 was a sensory journey where field recordings merged with improvisations using electronic, acoustic, and wind instruments.
This first artistic residency, in collaboration with Dei Suoni, affirmed the power of connecting nature and creativity. We’re excited to explore more experiences like this.
Jam Session N2
20 Jul 2024
After the success of the first edition, Bivio 980’s Jam Session returned on July 20, 2024 — bringing the same energy, magic, and desire for musical sharing.
Musicians of every genre came together once again for a vibrant evening of creativity, blending acoustic, electronic, and experimental sounds in spontaneous collaboration.
This time, nature added a challenge: brief summer rain showers tested our determination, but the spirit of the event never wavered. On the contrary, the rain became part of the scene — amplifying the evening’s energy.
With even greater participation than the previous year, the Jam Session proved once again to be an essential gathering for those who love music that’s free, authentic, and without borders.
The music never stops. Ever.
Association Launch
15 Jun 2024
Our launch event marked the official beginning of Bivio 980 as a social promotion association — a mountain-based collective promoting projects in art, craft, and research inspired by nature.
It was a special opportunity to meet, share ideas and visions, and lay the foundation for a community open to exchanging experiences and knowledge.
We gathered proposals and project ideas to grow together — a moment of warmth and inspiration that kicked off our adventure.
980 Stelle
31 Jul 2023
Summer nights invite us to look up and find our star. On July 31, 2023, 980 Stelle offered an immersive journey through geology and astronomy, guided by professor and amateur astronomer Pierluigi Stroppa.
The event began with a walk from Monastero to Bivio 980. Along the way, Stroppa revealed the geological history beneath our feet. At the summit, participants watched the sun set over the Sibillini Mountains.
After a shared dinner of local products, the focus turned skyward. Stroppa intertwined science and myth, illuminating the stars and constellations with stories from Greek mythology.
Later, on the summit of Monte dei Cancelli, free from light pollution, he traced paths between the stars with a laser pointer — identifying constellations and celestial bodies and answering every curious question.
Some participants chose to sleep under the stars in silence, surrounded by the distant shimmer of the sky. An unforgettable night where nature, science, and wonder converged.
Sleeping Concert
22 Jul 2023
A sound journey between dream and reality: the Sleeping Concert on July 22, 2023, was a unique experience designed to gently lead participants into sleep under a starlit sky.
Created by Ldgu and DJ Sint, the concert transformed Bivio 980’s headquarters into an open-air sound installation. Participants, cocooned in their sleeping bags, experienced music as both a physical and sensory journey, carried by waves of ambient sounds and vibrations.
Inspired by artists like Max Richter (Sleep, 2015) and Robert Rich’s Sleep Concerts, this experimental format offered a deeply immersive encounter between music, altered states, and nature.
Ldgu and DJ Sint crafted a multi-layered sonic universe using samplers, turntables, electric bass, flutes, and modulation effects — improvising in real-time based on the audience’s reactions.
An experience of sound and surrender, of inner and outer connection.
Jam Session N1
24 Jun 2023
Music, mountains, and connection: on June 24, 2023, Bivio 980 hosted its first Jam Session — an open event for all music and nature lovers.
Musicians from various backgrounds gathered to create a one-of-a-kind experience, blending acoustic and electronic instruments in harmony with the surrounding landscape. It was a space for free expression, sonic experimentation, and spontaneous collaborations.
The creative energy and desire to connect made this musical debut a true success, leaving everyone eager for the next sonic adventure.
An event to remember — where music found its home among the peaks.
Erbe
6 Jun 2023
An immersive journey through nature, tradition, and ancient knowledge: on June 6, 2023, Bivio 980 hosted 980 Erbe, a day dedicated to discovering edible and medicinal wild plants. The walk began in Monastero and was guided by Maria Sonia Baldoni, known as the “Sibyl of Herbs,” who led us through a sensory journey of scents and forgotten knowledge. Along the path, we explored and collected wild herbs, learning about their traditional uses and properties. Once at Bivio 980’s headquarters, we catalogued and examined the plants up close, creating a moment of shared learning. The day ended with a warm, convivial lunch and an afternoon of exchanges and conversation. An event that left a lasting impression — merging nature, knowledge, and community in the heart of the Sibillini Mountains.
